I am inspired by the qualities of traditional, historical mosaics and also of modern mosaicists around the world; I take these inspirations and apply my own contemporary twist using digital technology in particular pixelation. My work is a take on optical illusions, from a distance an image can clearly be seen, but up close this can be lost, merging into an abstract sea of colours. My interest in how colour is used in painting and contemporary imagery, combined with Iznik tile patterns, enables me to develop abstract mosaics from these sources.

The ceramic adaption of images used can be works for interior, exterior, commercial or domestic spaces. Working in this way means I am never limited to certain sizes or scales, so all works are site specific.
