Myrto Williams

BA (Hons) Illustration

Events

Myrto Williams is an Illustrator/ Painter/ Visual artist. She draws much of her inspiration from London and the societies and environments within it. Locality is an essential part of her work, because objects, people and places all have different qualities depending on their position or situation. This is paramount in her visual communication, because without this recognition we are unable to communicate, appreciate and understand each other. Her artwork is often vivid and has sometimes been described as being hyper-real. This is how she naturally interprets things around her as well as being the result of wanting her work to be detailed and full of information. The results can be bold and sometimes have a shocking impact on the viewer. Myrto also feels very strongly about the youth and the issues that surround them. She believes that illustration is a powerful tool, which can help educate and motivate them and believes more children need creative stimulus to keep them involved in positive activities and allow them to feel a sense of achievement.
