Studying painting at Camberwell gives students a very special and unique experience. Not only does the course introduce students to the broad developments in current international painting, but it is also acknowledges and embraces the traditions of the medium. Students on the course are invited to continually challenge and question their assumptions as to what painting is in the 21st century.
The work in this graduating group reflects this approach to painting. This year work includes installation, film and objects alongside a full range work more recognizable as painting including that which explores and embraces the medium’s rich tradition as well as pieces that interrogate and subvert expectations of paintings form and function.
