Events

I make sculptural forms out of mundane, domestic ephemera that are often overlooked and disregarded because of their disposability, familiarity and unmentioned presence in the background of our lives. My intention is to make work that is removed from its origin but still holds some remainder or vestige of what it once was intact, thereby occupying a middle ground, fluctuating between associations. The final effect may be ambiguous and leave things unsaid or unresolved, gaps that the viewer must fill with their own interpretations. The material acts as a retainer of collective memories, emotions or experiences – and is a catalyst or conduit for their subsequent release.

The processes and forms of my work are dictated by the autonomy of the chosen material, following the inherent and implicit physical properties. The work has a temporary and transitional materiality and physicality.
