The intention of my work is to realise inner visions within pictorial representation through painting and animation. In both media, collage plays an important role. Inspiration for my collage is wide and derived from Renaissance paintings, illustrations from science books, travel magazines photographs and Indian textiles. They are employed to visualise imaginary scenes but also, they create a unique cultural mixture of images within the depiction of fantasy.
“Narrative” is another elemental of my work. Particularly, my animation functions as a visual narrator that tells an additional story of my painting. The term “Video- painting (Ekishou-kaiga)” was first used by Morimura and similarly, I consider my animation as a part of my painting. For me, painting and animation are not separate works but a series piece, which always responds to each other.
