Events

These paintings have their source in the image of Paris, influenced by the atmosphere of the photographs of Eugene Atget, described by Walter Benjamin as looking somehow unintentionally but uncannily like ‘the scene of a crime’. The sophistication of the locations and the model girls’ artfully dishevelled heads recalling Baudelaire’s regard for the natural as abominable, the artificial- the dandy, make up, as admirable, in the search for the poetic, the heroic in the city.
