Placeholder Description
I start with a photograph, taken at parties of girls out of it/ drunk etc. The subject is both friends and myself.
I am attracted to the glamour and fetishism’s of girls going out. The fake eyelashes, high heels, big hair, lipstick, coloured nails, jewelery.
I make the photograph into a 3-D piece. Made out of clay, I decorate with the above female appendages.
They become mutated; a hybrid of the girls, my experience, and the inebriated memory of the event.
Tied in with this is photograph as memory and evidence of the scene and my first hand experience – these overlap and become one thing or at least my attempt to reconcile all this in one sculpture.
They and I are drunk and I am trying to recapture this heightened experience which often, because of the state we’re in, can’t be remembered.
