“All I need to make a comedy is a park, a policeman and a pretty girl.” – Charles Chaplin

Archetypal stories have a magical quality in that they can be translated into a single image. Translating is easily done with the help of a few ‘give-aways’ – some props or familiar-looking objects/faces will do the trick. This method of storytelling with such brevity can be more evocative than telling a whole story word-for-word, as concealing information entices the imagination and gives it room to thrive.

It is the imagination which transcends a story from being heard to being absorbed. It is the imagination which causes one to empathise – to become captivated and engrossed – to really ‘feel’.
